Private Equity Investment Criteria
Dreyfus Corporation does not limit its private equity investments as a function of arbitrary parameters. We reject hard limits that can blind us to real opportunities, and instead, we seek to invest in companies that demonstrate a genuine potential for leadership in their respective industries with a strong and competent management team.
Our most common private equity clients are small and medium-sized enterprises that have a value of at least $50 million. We evaluate each prospective investment to identify whether the enterprise offers high-quality and value-added products services. We analyze growth prospects and conduct extensive due diligence on an enterprise’s management team. In almost every situation, we look for management teams that have significant equity ownership positions in their enterprise, and that are open to increasing that position.
Our ideal private equity client will be able to demonstrate that it has a leading market share position with proven or high-potential disruptive technologies. We seek enterprises with proprietary concepts and brand name advantages that create intrinsic value and a sustainable competitive advantage. Although we are also not limited by industry, our ideal client will also be in an industry with strong growth characteristics that are less subject to cyclical downturns and external disruptions.
